James did a magnificent job of designing a covered porch that was affordable and significantly exceeded my expectations of quality, “do not miss-understand” this is a huge compliment. This was one of several changes I had done but the most important to me. This porch is my favorite room of the house, bar-none. All the other improvements went terrific, but I really can’t express in words how much I like this porch.
Johnny visited daily during all work and though it was almost transparent to me all contract work was done cleanly, on time, with respectful contractors. But, the best was the communication. This was a critical component for my overall satisfaction. Personal interaction, knowledgeable answers to all questions and immediate responses to any concerns. I have no suggestion how he could do what he does any better.
This spirit of customer service sets Shea apart to me as a company. For me the customer, Shea is not Shea. Shea is people like James and Johnny. Their exceptional professionalism and desire to provide the customer an experience that exceeded expectations is all I know of Shea."

"Charlie was one manager of three contracting services we had requested proposals and bids for the renovation of an existing screen porch. Our desire was to make this area into a year-round room. Actually, Shea was not the lowest bid but did provide all the amenities needed to meet our goal and in consideration of all the bids, subsequently was chosen. Shea started the following Monday as promised. I found out quickly that Charlie had one very irritating habit of answering emails immediately. This kept me abreast of all work during the duration of the project, not only what was happening but more importantly, what was going to happen next. "Let me begin by saying that we are immensely enjoying our screened patio and bonus room. Both rooms, built simultaneously, were a tremendous success and the final products are superb.
Charlie was an excellent project lead. We cannot stress enough how superb of a job he did at coordinating the many crews of workers who went in and out of the house. His communication skills and organization were very impressive. We felt very confident with the projects in his hands, and knew that if we had a request, it would be addressed immediately. Charlie was in constant contact with us about what to expect, and was also sensitive to our special circumstances. He demonstrated attention to detail and expected the same from those who worked for him. As an added bonus, he was always professional, had a very friendly disposition, and a great sense of humor.
Regarding the various crews who worked here, we have mixed reviews. The framing crew (headed by Juan) and the electrical crew were both extremely friendly, professional, and did a terrific job. They worked hard and for long hours without complaint. Other workers I met were Frank, the screen installer, the door installer, the trim guys, and the cleaners (led by Carol). Although I didn’t get all their names, they were a pleasure to work with and did a terrific job. I felt comfortable having all of them in my home.
Two crews left us with some disappointment. The HVAC crew lacked general friendliness, and left the largest mess due to failure to use drop cloths over the carpets. I cleaned up after them, and Charlie apologized profusely for their neglect. And finally, the painting crew had much difficulty with our job. Finally, after three attempts, Charlie brought in someone different to finish the job. For our inconvenience, Charlie had an extra door painted for us and sent the cleaners over an extra time.
Overall, we would not hesitate to hire Shea Custom and Charlie again for our future home re-modeling projects. Like I said at the beginning, the end products are superb. We have already recommended Shea Custom to many of our friends and neighbors. We wish to thank everyone who contributed to the success of these projects."
